1. You can only do full portions. My cat is supposed to eat 1/2 cup of food a day. To get that amount, I need 5 portions. She eats twice a day. I cannot do 2.5 portions at each feeding. So one of her feeding has to be 3 portions and the other feeding is only 2 portions. I wish I could split that evenly, but I guess it isn't a deal breaker. I'm giving her the smaller feeding at night, and the larger feeding in the morning.
2. The recording function is kind-of cool. But apparently it has an auto-off during 10pm to 7am (something like that). My cat eats her morning meal at 5am. So the recording will not play during the morning feeding. That's a bummer. They should give an option to play it if you want to, and to turn it of if you want to. Argh!
Nevertheless - I still like the feeder. It will give us some freedom to go away for a few days and have our cat fed on schedule. And while we are at home, it makes portioning easy. I'm hoping we can get our cat's weight under control with careful portioning.
If you have more than one pet I’d likely get two so no one hogs all the food. That’s the only downside to having just one of these feeders with multiple animals.
